 Ceradyne
supplies materials for sputtering target applications or finished sputtering
targets through its partners. The targets are typically used by customers for
applying PVD coatings on metals and other materials for improved the wear
resistance.
All of Ceradyne’s materials are capable for sputtering applications, however
silicon nitride (Si3N4), silicon carbide (SiC), boron carbide (B4C) and
titanium diboride (TiB2) are most often selected because of their electrical
resistivity and hardness properties.
Ceradyne also has an extensive R&D portfolio of specialized materials with
the capability of producing other exotic materials that could have sputtering
applications.
