Rollers for high-pressure fuel pumps for heavy and light duty diesel engines are produced at Ceradyne. These rollers are used where warranty problems existed with metal components - primarily in the form of excessive wear, scuffing and galling. Silicon nitride rollers are used in common rail fuel pumps to meet the high pressures required to achieve current and future emission standards.



Fuel pump rollers are manufactured using Ceradyne’s Ceralloy® 147-31N silicon nitride. Silicon nitride’s material properties make it ideally suited for this application -
