Body Armor As a leader in advanced technical ceramics manufacture for ballistic applications since 1969, Ceradyne offers the most innovative, protective and durable light weight body armor. The distinct characteristics of advanced ceramics – light weight, high hardness, wear and corrosion resistant, low friction and special electrical properties, offer major advantages over conventional materials such as plastics and metals. Because of these unique qualities, Ceradyne advanced technical ceramics provide the lightest, most durable body armor available for small to medium caliber protection.

Ceradyne patented body armor technology uses boron carbide, silicon carbide and alumina materials to provide advanced protection for vulnerable body areas. Our light weight body armor exceeds industry standards and achieves the highest level of durability with no sacrifice to performance hit after hit.

A unique plate pressing process allows for cost effective body armor production along with custom molding in massive quantities. The patented technology used by Ceradyne also permits the molding and production of body armor in virtually any size and shape.

To ensure that design solutions are capable of withstanding the most demanding conditions, Ceradyne utilizes an in-house ballistics range to test all materials and body armor designs against a wide array of ball and armor piercing threats that range from 5.56 to 12.7 millimeters. As a result, Ceradyne’s advanced ceramic materials offer the highest performance with the lightest weight solution.
